STRATEGY • The ModelHome 2020, also called “Sunlighthouse”, was chosen as the central focus of communications in the past months. All arguments in favour of roof windows were placed in direct relation to the “Sunlighthouse”. Together with as many cooperation partners as possible, information on every step of progress in the project was specifically adapted to the various target groups.

Throughout the discussions around higher energy efficiency in buildings VELUX has advocated carbon neutrality as a crucial factor and has, for this purpose, built six experimental houses in five European countries which ensure both carbon neutrality and a perfect indoor climate through high levels of daylight and fresh air. The Austrian ModelHome 2020, a single-family house built in timber, was opened under the name of “Sunlighthouse” near Vienna in autumn 2010.
 
For their communications activities around the “Sunlighthouse” VELUX and senft & partner won second place at the Best Practice Award XVII.
